I... am an optimist. I agree with Pogo, that wise
cartoon character from my late middle age, who said, “We have
met the enemy and he is us.”
But I also agree with what Pogo added sometime
later: “We are confronted with insurmountable opportunities.”
In my day, when someone proclaimed a mountain to be insurmountable,
it was climbed within a year.
