Brick and the Flood of ¹57
  BQR ~ Summer 1999

he Grand Canyon Private Boaters Association is honored to be able to invite you to an evening with private river runner Vernon ³Brick² Mortenson. Boat builder and aircraft tool designer, Brick first ran the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon in 1955 on a private trip as a boatman for P.T. ³Pat² Reilly and his passenger was first time river runner Martin Litton. Brick returned to run the Grand Canyon in ¹57 and ¹58, the last years of high water before Glen Canyon Dam. Brick¹s last run down the river was in 1962, the year before the flood gates of Glen Canyon Dam were to close. Brick will be showing a video he made of the ¹55, ¹56 and ¹57 river trips. The high water shots are fantastic! Brick will also have free copies of his river logs available. This event, sponsored by the Grand Canyon Private Boaters Association, will be at Cline Library on the campus of Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ, on October 8, 1999 at 7:00 p.m.. A donation of $5 to support the gcpba will be accepted at the door. We hope to see you all there for this high water showing!
