So you want to go on a river trip?

Unfortunately Grand Canyon River Guides can't help you.

We just work there.

But there are several ways to go down the river:

 Commercial river trips

Trips vary from 3 days to 3 weeks. Boats range from 15 foot paddle boats, to 18-foot rowing rafts and dories, to 33-40-foot motorized rafts. Cost runs between $200 and $300 per day.

Although our non-profit group does not offer river trips per-se, we refer folks to a Flagstaff based tour company, run by river guides, that books trips for every outfitter in the Canyon. They'll be happy to help you find what you're looking for.

 Private river trips

If you'd rather try doing it on your own, you'll need to get a permit from the National Park Service. At the present time, demand far outstrips supply, and the waiting list is now over ten years for a permit.

However, folks whose dates are flexible enough to grab cancellation dates--or have networked enough among other private boaters--go almost every year. For more information, contact
